The Awesome Rise of The Miz

After the angle with Mizdow ran its course, The Miz continued with his movie star persona, and was joined by his real life wife and WWE superstar Maryse, the night after WrestleMania 32. She helped The Miz defeat Zach Ryder to capture his 5th Intercontinental Championship. The Intercontinental Championship is perhaps the 2nd most important title in wrestling history, but by the time Miz won it for a 5th time, its legacy had been badly diluted. In 2016, The Miz successfully rehabilitated the image of the Intercontinental Championship. He took it with him to SmackDown Live as a part of the WWE Draft, and immediately made an impact. He appeared on the WWE Network‘s Talking Smack, and proceed to drop a promo on SmackDown Live GM, Daniel Bryan, that had fans jumping out of their seats saying, “Wait, is this real?”
