Historically, WWE has had a good working relationship with MTV over the last 30 plus years. They were the catalyst behind the “Rock ‘n’ Wrestling Connection” of the 80’s, they aired the classic Halftime Heat match up between Mankind and The Rock, and they co-produced the first three season’s of WWE’s Tough Enough series. What no one ever expected though, was for one of WWE‘s biggest current stars to be an MTV alumni. Before we knew him as “The Miz,” Mike Mizanin was a cast member on MTV‘s reality series The Real World: Back to New York. That’s where the world got it’s first glimpse at the “Most ‘Must See’ WWE Superstar of All Time.” Mizanin explained that “The Miz” was his alter ego, and a wrestling character he had come up with. After The Real World, Mizanin was part of the spin off series The Real World/Road Rules Challenge. He reached the finals in all but one of the seasons he competed in, and is actually a two time champion of the show, having won Battle of the Seasons and Inferno 2. Mizanin, who had dropped out of college to be on The Real World, seemed to be sitting pretty as an MTV reality star, but he had bigger dreams. Dreams that seemed a bit too big for Mike Mizanin, but a perfect fit for someone like “The Miz.”
