Bret Hart’s time in WCW was a total let down. WCW could have capitalized off the buzz from the Montreal Screwjob, and had Bret cut some scathing promos directed at Vince and the WWF, but instead they took the hottest wrestler on the planet and the hottest angle in pro wrestling and did their best to cool them both down. The way Bret’s WCW run was handled is one of the main examples of why WCW failed as a company. It’s a travesty that Bret Hart had to leave WWF at all, he was the heart and soul of that company and he deserved to be there to basque in the glory of putting WCW out of business. It was like watching Micheal Jordan play for the Wizards, it just didn’t look or feel right. Bret won the U.S. Title and WCW Title during his days in WCW, but his memorable moments in that company are few and far between. Sadly, Bret Hart would be forced to retire from Wrestling in January of 2000 due to complications stemming from a concussion suffered at the hands, or rather the foot, of Bill Goldberg. He was the defending WCW Champion at the time and was forced to vacate the title. It was a sad and unceremonious end to one of the greatest careers in the history of pro wrestling.
