The Boneyard Match at WrestleMania 36 seems to have been a great success as several fans and wrestlers have been praising it. Word backstage is that The Undertaker wanted to redeem himself after having a disappointing match with Goldberg at Super Showdown in June 2019.
According to ESPN’s Marc Raimondi, during a conversation with Kurt Angle, Undertaker expressed his desire to redeem himself to the fans after his debacle with Goldberg. That’s when Kurt Angle suggested he work with AJ Styles, he said it would be the best match he has had in years:
Kurt Angle told me Undertaker was talking to him recently, disappointed in his Goldberg match and wanting to redeem himself.
Angle: “The first thing I said to him was, ‘What about [wrestling] AJ [Styles] ?’ … It’ll be the best match you’ve had in years.’”#WrestleMania

Obviously the Dead Man took Angle’s advice as Styles was hand picked by Taker to be his opponent at WrestleMania 36 and it couldn’t have worked out any better as the boneyard match has received universal praise from most people (fans and wrestlers).
