1. Asuka, NXT Women’s Champion

Who else could it possibly be? WWE may call Asuka the empress of tomorrow, but I think she’s doing just fine today. 494 days as NXT Women’s Champion. That’s not only the longest current reign in any major promotion, that’s longer than any single world championship reign in TNA‘s history, WCW‘s history, even New Japan‘s history!

Make no mistake about it, Asuka holding that NXT Women’s Championship makes it world-class. To gain an opportunity to simply wrestle Asuka elevates a competitor instantly. In NXT, that rub is invaluable. Ask Bayley. Or Nia Jax. Ask Nikki Cross, Peyton Royce, Billy Kay, Ruby Riot, Ember Moon.. By the way, Asuka‘s undefeated streak stands at over 180. Not even Goldberg‘s obviously inflated streak reaches that high. Asuka is the number one wrestling champion in the world today, and for me it’s an obvious choice.
