Roman Reigns Reportedly Suffered Injury During WWE SummerSlam Match

In a recent update shared on today’s Wrestling Observer Radio by Dave Meltzer, it was revealed that Roman Reigns sustained an injury during his championship bout against Jey Uso at WWE SummerSlam held this past Saturday (August 5th). Meltzer noted that the injury occurred early in the match, and despite the discomfort, Reigns continued to compete.

The specifics regarding the extent and type of Reigns’ injury remain undisclosed. Meltzer confirmed that Reigns is still expected to make an appearance on this week’s WWE SmackDown as originally scheduled. The upcoming SmackDown episode is set to take place at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada on Friday, August 11th. The event is also slated to feature Jimmy Uso addressing the reigning Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns, and paying homage to him with the “Hail to the Chief” acknowledgment.

During the recent WWE SummerSlam 2023 event, Reigns successfully defended his Undisputed Universal Championship by defeating Jey Uso. It was noted that Jimmy Uso’s intervention ultimately prevented Jey Uso from securing the victory when he had the match within his grasp.
