Last night’s episode of NXT TV saw Lio Rush become The New NXT Cruiserweight Champion by defeating The Former NXT Cruiserweight Champion Drew Gulak. This is Lio Rush’s first time becoming The NXT Cruiserweight Champion as well as his first-ever title victory in WWE. Drew Gulak became The NXT Cruiserweight Champion at The WWE Stomping Grounds PPV Event back on June 23rd by defeating Akira Tozawa and The NXT Cruiserweight Champion at the time Tony Nese in a Triple Threat Match.
Following Lio Rush’s NXT Cruiserweight Title victory, NXT General Manager William Regal made his way down to the ring to congratulate The New NXT Cruiserweight Champion as well as place the title belt around Lio Rush’s waist. Former NXT Cruiserweight Champion Drew Gulak interrupted Lio Rush’s celebration, but he did show Rush a little respect before leaving the ring.
