Ibushi & Tanahashi Becomes The New IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions

Last night’s NJPW New Japan Road Event saw Kota Ibushi & Hiroshi Tanahashi become The New IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions by defeating The Former IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions The Guerrillas Of Destiny (Tama Tonga & Tanga Loa).

The IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Title Match would see Jado pull the referee out of the ring as the titles were about to change hands, allowing Tanga Loa to hit Tanahashi with a title belt. The Guerrillas Of Destiny would then team up on Kota Ibushi but he would duck and Tama Tonga would accidentally knock Tanga Loa out with another title belt shot. Kota Ibushi would then take Tama Tonga, Tanga Loa & Jado out, prior to brining the referee back up. Tanahashi would then deliver the High Fly Flow on Tama Tonga to get the pin for the finish.

This is the first time Kota Ibushi & Hiroshi Tanahashi became The IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions together. This is the first reign for Kota Ibushi as one-half of The IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions, while Hiroshi Tanahashi has already become The IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions three times. The Guerrillas Of Destiny (Tama Tonga & Tanga Loa) became The IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions back on February 1st at The NJPW New Beginning In Atlanta Event by defeating The IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions at the time FinJuice (David Finlay & Juice Robinson).
