The next chapter of Francis Ngannou‘s MMA career kicked off with a powerful performance as The Predator claimed the PFL Heavyweight Superfight Championship with a first-round TKO victory over Renan Ferreira during the PFL’s pay-per-view event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
After the fight, Ngannou dedicated his win to his 15-month-old son, Kobe, who passed away in April.
“Without Kobe, we wouldn’t be here tonight,” Ngannou said. “I hope they can remember his name.”
The bout turned decisively after an early takedown by Ngannou, who maintained top position and fended off a triangle choke attempt from Ferreira. He then took Ferreira’s back and went for the TKO.
This victory marked Ngannou’s first MMA fight since his UFC contract expired in early 2022, following his title defense against Ciryl Gane. He unleashed a flurry of strikes until the referee stepped in to stop the contest.
