Backstage Details On Firefly Funhouse Match At Wrestlemania 36, nWo Segment

Firefly Funhouse Match John Cena NWO - Wrestling Examiner

On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, host Dave Meltzer discussed backstage details on the Firefly Funhouse Match that took place on night 2 of WrestleMania 36 at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. Meltzer said that the extremely creative match was put together by Bruce Prichard, Bray Wyatt, and John Cena. Prichard and Wyatt did most of the work, while Cena added some input ‘for the better’.

Meltzer also talked about the nWo segment that was part of the Firefly Funhouse Match. He said that segment was for all the fans that wanted to see Cena turn heel, similar to what Hulk Hogan did when he turned into Hollywood Hogan after joining the nWo. According to Meltzer, WWE actually considered turning Cena heel, he even had new ring gear ready to go, but Vince McMahon vetoed it due to Cena being the top merchandise mover at the time.
