WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Jade Cargill was unexpectedly sidelined backstage last week on Friday Night SmackDown. WWE later provided an update, revealing that she suffered deep lumbar paraspinal muscle contusions, a bruised kidney, a sprained MCL in her right knee, a tibial plateau bone bruise in her right knee, and facial lacerations. The angle is rumored to stem from a legitimate injury to Cargill. Dave Meltzer shared more details on Cargill’s situation during today’s Wrestling Observer Radio.
Meltzer reported that he was informed Cargill would be out of action for “three months minimum.” He added,
“Whatever the actual injury is being kept very secret because I’ve heard from several in the company who are aware of the actual injury, and they said not only do they not know what the actual injury is, but people very close to her don’t even know what the injury is. But it is an injury.”
Bryan Alvarez speculated that Cargill might have a torn meniscus, as the recovery time for such an injury is typically around three months. Additionally, Meltzer suggested that while some of the injuries WWE listed in their update may be legitimate, he’s unsure which ones specifically.
It remains unclear when Jade Cargill will return to TV, and WWE has not announced how they plan to address the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles during her injury hiatus.
