Former WWE CEO Linda McMahon is reportedly set to be named as Donald Trump’s nominee for Secretary of Education. According to CNN, four sources familiar with the situation have confirmed that Trump plans to appoint McMahon to the role, after it became clear she would not be selected for Commerce Secretary. Instead, Trump has appointed Howard Lutnick, a fellow co-chair of his transition team, to lead the Commerce Department.
McMahon, the wife of former WWE COO Vince McMahon, previously served as the administrator of Trump’s Small Business Administration during his first term. She resigned from that position in 2019 to take on the role of chair for the pro-Trump super PAC America First Action. Additionally, she is a co-founder and board chair of the America First Policy Institute, a conservative think tank aligned with Trump’s political agenda.
