According to PWInsider, WWE Hall Of Famer Brian “Road Dogg” James is now expected to take an extended break from the company. As previously reported, Road Dogg recently stepped down as The Co-Lead Writer Of SmackDown LIVE and there have been talks on him possibly filling the behind-the-scenes role once held by WWE Hall Of Famer Arn Anderson at live events. There was also talk of Road Dogg possibly working as a commentator. There is now word that the parties involved will assess the situation and see where Road Dogg may fit in the company going forward.
Road Dogg was not on either RAW or SmackDown LIVE in Montreal, Quebec, Canada this week. With Road Dogg not being there, Ryan Ward was leading the creative team on Tuesday for The Superstar Shakeup episode. Ward handled the responsibilities that were usually overseen by Brian James.
Brian James is still considered to be part of the company, but there is no current timetable for his return to work. It was previously reported that Brian James had become increasingly frustrated with the changes made to SmackDown LIVE’s TV scripts by WWE Chairman & CEO Vince McMahon and that he finally “hit his breaking point” at SmackDown LIVE’s WrestleMania 35 Fallout Show in Brooklyn, New York.
