Ricochet Crowned New WWE United States Champion At Stomping Grounds

Last night’s WWE Stomping Grounds PPV Event saw Ricochet become The New WWE United States Champion by defeating Samoa Joe. This is Ricochet’s first time becoming The WWE United States Champion and this is his first-ever title on the main roster.

Samoa Joe first won The WWE United States Title on The March 5th episode of SmackDown LIVE by defeating Andrade, Rey Mysterio & R-Truth in a Fatal 4-Way Match, which was R-Truth’s open challenge for his WWE United States Title at the time. Samoa Joe then successfully defended his WWE United States Title against R-Truth, Andrade & Rey Mysterio at WWE Fastlane, which took place on March 10th.

At this past April’s WWE WrestleMania 35 PPV Event, Samoa Joe successfully defended his WWE United States Title once again against Rey Mysterio. Samoa Joe would then lose his WWE United States Title to Rey Mysterio at last month’s WWE Money In The Bank PPV Event. On The June 3rd episode of Monday Night RAW, Samoa Joe became a two-time WWE United States Champion after Rey Mysterio was forced to relinquish his WWE United States Title and hand it over to Samoa Joe due to a separated shoulder.
