The main event of last night’s episode of NXT TV saw NXT North American Champion Roderick Strong successfully defend his NXT North American Title against Keith Lee & Dominik Dijakovic in a Triple Threat Match. Following the match, the other members of The Undisputed ERA (NXT Champion Adam Cole and NXT Tag Team Champions Kyle O’Reilly & Bobby Fish) made their way down to the ring to celebrate with Roderick Strong, but they ended up attacking Keith Lee as well.
The annihilation stopped when Tommaso Ciampa’s music hit and he made his way down to the ring with his crutch. Ciampa then stood in the ring and faced off with The Undisputed ERA until Johnny Gargano’s music hit and he made his way down to the ring as well. A reunion of DIY was upon The NXT Universe as they were facing off against The Undisputed ERA when suddenly Finn Balor’s music hit and as he was making his way down to the ring, he got a huge reaction from the crowd. Balor, Gargano & Ciampa then faced off with The Undisputed ERA in the middle of the ring until Balor turned heel out of nowhere and dropped Gargano with an overhead kick.
The crowd and the announcers were then stunned as the rest of The Undisputed ERA attacked Ciampa and laid him out while Balor watched from the corner. Cole & Balor then had a quick stare down before Cole nailed Ciampa with a running knee to the back of his head. Balor then left the ring, to a mixed reaction and dropkicked Gargano into the barrier. Balor then pulled Gargano over to the bottom of the ramp after that and spiked his head into the steel.
At first it seemed that Balor was joining The Undisputed ERA but that was never made official. After Balor dropped Gargano on the ramp, he then pointed down at Gargano and looked up at The Undisputed ERA, as if he was offering Gargano to the group. The Undisputed ERA then stood in the ring with their signature poses while Balor offered the beaten Gargano to them. This may have been an indication that Balor turned heel without joining the group. Balor then marched up the ramp and went to the back as his music played, with an angry look on his face. NXT then went off the air with The Undisputed ERA standing tall in the ring.
Finn Balor made his much-awaited return to WWE TV during an episode of NXT TV a few weeks back after losing to “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt at SummerSlam and taking a break. Balor was officially moved to The NXT Roster immediately after that and even competed in a few NXT Road Trip Live Events in The Pacific Northwest. It was believed that NXT Champion Adam Cole will be in a feud with Finn Balor & Tommaso Ciampa for his NXT Title, but after what took place last night, it looks like some other feud could be happening first.
