Ryan Nemeth reportedly sent a complaint to AEW executives detailing his exit from the company, which he believes was a result of issues with CM Punk. According to Fightful Select, the complaint, which was sent on September 12, 2023, to several AEW executives, outlines the harassment, abuse, and threats Nemeth says he faced while working there. He claims much of the mistreatment stemmed from Punk and the company’s failure to address the situation. Nemeth also alleges that AEW encouraged him to antagonize Punk with a promo, further escalating the tension.
Nemeth’s timeline of events includes multiple interactions with AEW Legal and HR, including communications with Megan Parekh, AEW’s former legal representative. He says he was threatened by Punk in June 2023, and after that, was largely excluded from bookings for two months. Although Parekh assured him his job would not be impacted, Nemeth felt AEW was preparing to quietly let him go.
The complaint goes on to state that in August 2023, Nemeth was asked to antagonize Punk in a promo, but despite raising concerns with AEW Legal, he says no action was taken. His contract expired in March 2024, and he believes AEW holds him responsible for Punk’s exit, which led to Punk’s WWE return.
Nemeth also claims that AEW offered him a settlement equivalent to three years of his salary, contingent on him signing a non-disclosure agreement, but the offer was withdrawn after his legal counsel advised against it. He further alleges that AEW threatened legal action when he sent his timeline.
Despite the complications, Nemeth speaks highly of the AEW roster, expressing concern over the company’s lack of proper response to these issues. He believes that AEW needs to improve its policies for the well-being of its talent. AEW has yet to comment on the matter.
This can potentially be a huge story depending on what else comes out.
This is really interesting. I wonder if more info will come out about this.
