Rey Mysterio Becomes The New WWE United States Champion On RAW

Rey Mysterio became The New WWE United States Champion last night on RAW when he defeated The Former WWE United States Champion AJ Styles.

The WWE United States Title Match that was originally scheduled to take place last night on RAW was supposed to see The Former WWE United States Champion AJ Styles defend The WWE United States Title against Humberto Carrillo. Humberto Carrillo was attacked at ringside by The O.C. and was replaced by the winner of a #1 Contender’s Fatal 4-Way Match that took place earlier in the show.

The #1 Contender’s Fatal 4-Way Match comprised of Rey Mysterio, Ricochet, Randy Orton & Drew McIntyre, which saw Rey Mysterio secure the victory. Rey Mysterio then immediately faced AJ Styles for The WWE United States Title and won the match.

The match saw interference from Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson & Randy Orton, who helped Rey Mysterio take AJ Styles out and for the win. After the match, Rey Mysterio celebrated with his son Dominick.

This is Rey Mysterio’s second time to become The WWE United States Champion. AJ Styles became The WWE United States Champion back at this past July’s WWE Extreme Rules PPV Event by defeating The WWE United States Champion at the time Ricochet.

At this past Sunday night’s WWE Survivor Series PPV Event, Mysterio came up short against WWE Champion Brock Lesnar, while Styles also lost his RAW vs. SmackDown vs. NXT Survivor Series Triple Threat Match against WWE Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura and NXT North American Champion Roderick Strong, who won the match.
