As previously reported, rumors emerged this week suggesting that Britt Baker may be on her way out of AEW, with Tony Khan and the locker room reportedly frustrated with her, leading to her absence from TV. Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez provided additional details on Britt Baker’s situation during today’s Wrestling Observer Radio.
Meltzer explained that when he reached out to people regarding Baker’s status,
“It was not a subject that a lot of people wanted to talk about.” He also stated that the situation with Baker “has a kernel of truth to some of it, but it got blown way, way out of proportion.”
Following the initial report, Alvarez confirmed that multiple AEW sources felt the story was exaggerated, saying:
“There are people [in AEW] that don’t like Britt. The idea that nobody in the locker room likes Britt is absolutely not true.” Regarding her absence from TV, Alvarez added, “Most people don’t know why. Ultimately, it’s Tony [Khan]’s decision whether she’s going to be used or not.”
Alvarez also mentioned that no one he spoke to, including those close to Tony Khan, said that Britt Baker wouldn’t return, and clarified, “Nobody said she’s not coming back.” He further stated that Baker remains under contract with AEW “for quite a while.”
In a recent conversation with DDP on his Gauntlet YouTube show, Baker shared that her time away from AEW TV was due to outside projects. She explained,
“I’m filming some fun stuff, can’t wait to tell everybody what it is. It’s on the down low for now but it’s really exciting and it’s cool, it’s really cool. I think people will be really excited about it.”
Baker’s last AEW appearance was on the November 13, 2024 episode of Dynamite, where she defeated Penelope Ford. Afterward, she was confronted by Serena Deeb, to which Baker remarked, “Nobody cares.” Deeb later appeared on AEW Collision in December wearing a shirt that read “Nobody Cares,” referencing Baker’s comment. However, Deeb has also been absent from TV since that appearance.
