Macho Man Randy Savage: Unique Madness

By the time 1994 rolled around, the writing was on the wall for Savage. He had been given a win against Crush at WrestleMania X, but he was only wrestling sporadically at this point, and had been relegated to “hosting” SummerSlam 1994. Luckily for Savage, Hulk Hogan had recently jumped to WCW, and had elevated the promotions stock, making it a legitimate alternative for him. WCW wanted to challenge the WWF as the top wrestling promotion in the country and they saw Savage as a key to getting there. On October 31st 1994, “The Macho ManRandy Savage would make his final appearance for the World Wrestling Federation on Monday Night Raw. The next week Vince McMahon would deliver a speech wishing Savage luck on his future endeavors. Vince McMahon was said to have been deeply distraught by Savage’s departure. A performer that was almost synonymous with his company was now gone and on his way to his biggest competition.
