Five to the Front: A First Look at YAMATO From Dragon Gate

5. Like One of Them Round Pegs

Again, I don’t know everything. As a matter of fact, as it relates to the topics of YAMATO and Dragon Gate, I still know very little. It seems though, that YAMATO fits in this place very, very well.

Perhaps, he may even fit in… like a glove?

YAMATO is a top-tier performer among top-tier performers. Since he is the Open the Dream Gate Champion, I decided to also watch the match in which he won the title, at Kobe Puroresu Festival: 24 July 2016:

What a damn match! This is more of what I mean when I say YAMATO fits in: the crowd is amazingly behind YAMATO. Real, palpable emotion from an audience truly invested in the events taking place, the characters involved, and the outcome of the match. I knew the outcome of the match before I watched it (obviously), but I was astounded at the lengths YAMATO and Shingo Takagi went to in the quest to hold top billeting.
When I watch wrestling, the main things I’m looking for are legitimacy and competitive spirit. YAMATO personifies those two qualifiers in Dragon Gate. I have become a fan. The competitive spirit burns deep in Japan, and Dragon Gate is no exception. It’s style may be slightly off-center, but that’s one of my favorite things about it!

Hey guys, I want to thank you for coming on this short journey with me. If you are unfamiliar with Dragon Gate, I would definitely recommend hunting around for some matches at the very least! I knew there was good stuff I didn’t know about but WoW! Next big show Dragon Gate has, you better bet your boots I’ll have it on the telly! For now though I’m going to go ahead and sign off from this article, and sign on to some WWE Network (only $9.99) for some NXT Takeover!!!! Thank you for tuning in🙂
